What is GIS?

A Geographic Information System or GIS is a collection of personnel, computer hardware, software and geographic data for capturing, storing, analyzing and displaying data. A GIS is not only a computer system that produces maps; a GIS is used to analyze geographic data and display the results in the form of a map.

About Our GIS

The Citrus County Property Appraiser’s Office, GIS Technology Department along with a private GIS consultant has recently completed the conversion of our paper maps to a highly intelligent parcel ownership data set. The final product is stored in an Enterprise Geodatabase using ESRI (Environmental Systems Research Institute) software.

The parcel ownership database has been developed to assist the appraisal staff in deriving just value. Secondly it has been developed to aid in the location and identification of individual properties. This data is also provided through our Web Mapping Application and can be downloaded at no charge from our download page.

Currently we are working with other agencies to improve the quality and data sets available to the citizens of Citrus County and the general public as a whole. At any time you have any questions, concerns, comment or suggestions regarding the data being displayed, please contact our office.

The Citrus County Property Appraiser's Office makes every effort to provide the most current and accurate information possible. No warranties, expressed or implied are provided with this information.
