What’s New at the Citrus County Property Appraiser’s Office?

Wow, we are already three months into 2022! Our office has been very busy these past couple months. In fact, we have been diligently serving our citizens since I became elected. Our Customer Service Department has been swamped with new owners filing for homestead. The deadline was March 1st. If you missed the deadline, please contact our office immediately. You can still file online or at one of our in-person locations.

Now, on to the exciting matters implemented in our organization. I will touch on a few of my favorites.

Our new Citrus County Property Appraiser logo truly symbolizes our beautiful county displaying bright teal and orange colors, an illustration of a house, and an image of an orange fruit. The best part of the new logo is our entire staff played a part in redesigning it. It is now displayed on our two offices, our county vehicles, and our updated website. Our field staff were provided logoed gray uniform shirts. In prior years, the field staff wore plain clothes with no identifiable information. For safety reasons, we felt our field staff should be recognizable to homeowners and business owners when they arrive on their property to complete an appraisal. Now, there should be no confusion noticing a Citrus County Property Appraiser employee.

Our website www.citruspa.org needed a long overdue facelift. Our main goal for the website was to make it user friendly and highly functional for the residents and businesses in Citrus County and around the world. After analyzing data from the current website, we understood the needs of our websites users. This allowed us to implement efficient changes on our homepage making the most used categories easily accessible to the public. The Search header seems to be Citrus County’s favorite link. Now users can search a property right from the homepage rather than having to find the search link deep within our website. Under this section is owner search, address search, real property search, advanced search, personal property search, and search help.

We also added the Quick Links section on our website. Quick Links allows users to file homestead exemptions, change mailing addresses, get TRIM information, link to the value adjustment board, access data download, view employment opportunities, and use the tax and portability estimator. The tax & portability estimator is currently a work in progress. We will be updating this feature as time goes on to make it as user friendly as possible.

Our Live Chat icon is another innovative website component. Will you actually be talking to a live person in our office? The answer is yes – as long as you are chatting during our normal business hours. You can find the Live Chat feature on the bottom right corner of our webpage. There is a dark green circle with a white message box icon. Click on the dark green circle with a white box and you can easily chat with a Customer Service Representative in our office by clicking send us a message. Our intention with this feature is for our users to ask questions from the comfort of their own homes or businesses.

Another valuable addition is the Search Articles section located inside the Live Chat icon. The Search Articles section is an informational highway for our users. To find the Search Articles section, click on the Live Chat icon described above. Under the Search for Help heading, click inside the Search articles box with the magnifying glass icon. This will open our collection of available informational documents. For instance, if you want information about property values, click on values. If you want information on property exemptions, click exemptions. If you want information on trim notices, click trim notice. There are many topics within each subheading. If you do not find the answer you are searching, as always, feel free to call one of our offices.

Employment opportunities are also now available on our website under the Quick Links header. Applicants can complete and submit an online employment application. Previously, applicants had to print an application and bring it to our office. Now, applicants can apply for open positions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can upload a resume or any other relevant documents as well.

The new Printable Handout section on the website pertains to homestead exemption, hurricanes, tangibles, and agriculture. To use our printable handout section, click on “Brochures”. Many title companies, relators and other similar businesses often use this feature to print homestead exemption data for their home buyers.

We look forward to providing Citrus County with continued information in the coming months.  Our Customer Service Department is always available to answer questions in both offices. Please call (352) 341-6600 or visit our website at www.citruspa.org. Our social media pages are also available via Facebook or Instagram at @citruscountyflpropertyappr
